The original “Bellows” face seal features a vibration-absorbing bellows that is ideal for sailboat and workboat applications. Our AMORFLEX bellows are second to none. Constructed of silicon rubber, they are hand wrapped with three layer of fiberglass on the inside and undergo a special “vulcanization” process. Not only do they have superior strength and durability, but resistant to heat and diesel fuel as well. Specially balanced for smooth rotation, the maintenance free “Original” utilizes a 316 grade stainless steel and carbon graphite for its sealing surfaces for sizes ¾” to 71/2”. For 8”, OIN (Oil Impregnated Nylon and 316 grade stainless steel are used. OIN has superior resistance to suspended solids, such as sand and silt. It is tough, long wearing and will not crack or shatter. Like all Lasdrop models, a water lubricated bearing is designed in the assembly to insure correct alignment to the shaft. There is virtually no metal to metal contact eliminating any chance of electrolysis. Accommodating stern tubes sizes from 1 ½” to 10 ½”OD.
